This broccoli and beef stir fry is such a good easy dinner. It has tender steak, crisp broccoli, and a glossy savoury sauce that comes together so quickly and is perfect with rice or noodles.

Ingredients

- 1 pound steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
Vegetable Stir Fry
- 1 pound broccoli florets
- 3 tbsp neutral oil, as needed
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tsp ginger paste
Sauce
- 1/3 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- Pinch of cayenne powder
Instructions
- Marinate the steak
In a medium bowl, toss the sliced steak with cornstarch, soy sauce, baking soda, pepper, and salt. Set aside while you prepare the rest. - Make the sauce
In a bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, white pepper, and cayenne powder until smooth. Set aside. - Cook the broccoli
Heat 1 tbsp neutral oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the broccoli and stir-fry briefly. Add a splash of water, cover, and steam for 2 to 3 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp. Remove and set aside. - Cook the steak
Heat the pan over medium-high heat until very hot, then add 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp neutral oil. Add the marinated steak and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until just cooked through and seared. Remove and set aside. - Cook the aromatics
Lower the heat to medium-low. Add the sesame oil and about 1/2 tbsp neutral oil to the pan. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. - Combine everything
Return the broccoli and steak to the pan. Pour in the sauce and toss everything together for 1 to 2 minutes, until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly. - Serve
Serve hot with rice or noodles.
