- Breadcrumbs
- 1 mozzarella block
- For the Breadcrumb Seasoning
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
For the Nashville Hot Oil
- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup hot oil
Instructions
- Prepare the coating stations
In one bowl, whisk the eggs. In a second bowl, add the flour. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. - Cut the cheese
Cut the mozzarella block into stick-shaped pieces. - Coat the mozzarella sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, then the egg, then the seasoned breadcrumbs. Repeat the flour, egg and breadcrumb steps one more time for a thicker coating. - Freeze
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 1 hour before frying. This helps keep the cheese from melting too quickly. - Fry
Heat oil in a pot or deep pan. Fry the mozzarella sticks until golden and crispy, then remove and place them on a paper towel-lined plate. - Make the hot oil
In a small bowl, combine the cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and hot oil. Mix well. - Finish
Brush the seasoned hot oil over the fried mozzarella sticks while they’re still hot. - Serve
Serve right away while they’re hot and melty inside.
